Marble is a limestone that, as a result of dynamic or contact metamorphism, has assumed a crystalline structure, with a uniform more or less big grain. In the technical terminology, all the stones susceptible to be worked and polished in order to constitute decorative material (slabs, blocks, columns and architraves) are called marble.
